Viktoria,
King Talas,
Giles Vern, and
Ferdi McGellan find themselves in a perilous situation. Stuck in a
Foggernaut submarine, in the middle of the
Depths of Sufokia, they're about to have an unforgettable encounter with
a strange tentacled monster...
The Queen of the Tritun Kingdom
"By Oktapodas, is it ugly!"
There's no doubt: the creature's dubious charms have clearly not worked on
Ferdi McGellan...
"Silence, wretch! It might be able to read lips..." protested
Giles.
"No one move a muscle. Its vision might be based on movement..." added
Viktoria.
At that moment,
King Talas came back from the machine room screaming.
"Everything's good, friends! We'll be underway in a moment. Just the time to... By Oktapodas, that's ugly!"
"Shhhh!" urged Viktoria, her finger smashed against his lips.
"I've never sheen it sho closhe... It'sh incredible..." he whispered, halfway between fascination and disgust.
"Do... do you think it wants to hurt us?"
"I don't know, dear mage," responded the king, freed of his queen's finger. "But one thing is sure: it doesn't want to help us."
Confusion could be seen on the faces of the three friends.
"So what is this hideous creature?", asked Viktoria.
"That is
Dantinea, my dear. The
Queen of the Tritun Kingdom, as it were... Our submarine broke down right in front of her palace. And it seems she doesn't like surprise visitors..."
As if to confirm the king's words, Dantinea started spinning, twirling her tentacles which swept all around her.
"She's getting closer! It's horrible!"
"Stop screaming, mage! Good lord, what are they waiting for?" wondered
the king impatiently as he turned toward the machine room.
Dantinea sped up. Like a tornado, she sent everything in her path flying. The closer she got to the submarine, the sharper and more dangerous her teeth appeared.
Ferdi McGellan and Giles Vern clung to each other, ignoring all social conventions and any shame...
"I'm too young to die!"
"And I'm too intelligent!" added the mage in a moment of humility.
"Stop your drama! If I have any say in the matter, you won't be dying today!" confirmed the king, visibly uptight, and who was starting to regret bringing those two along.
Luckily, the submarine started at the very last moment as the creature was about to smash her trident into one of the portholes.
"Whew... that was a close one!" sighed
Viktoria.
"The abysses of Sufokia hide nature's greatest treasures... but also its most dangerous traps. You'll have to be prudent when we leave the submarine," stated the king.
"We–we're going to leave the submarine?" asked Ferdi McGellan.
"Of course, my dear. Were you hoping just to take it easy on board the ship?" responded Giles with an impish attitude.
The Tritun Rift
The submarine entered the Tritun Rift. Compared to Dantinea, the Crabtuns, Trydes, and other Silyruses seemed almost welcoming. An Octodoll passed before the porthole the mage was looking out of, and winked at him.
"Looks like you're popular around here, my friend!" chuckled Giles.
"Watch out for them... they're renowned enchantresses. Their hair hypnotizes you and transforms you into stone as hard as a Iop's skull!" cautioned the king.
As if to mark her territory, Viktoria got closer to the king and held his hand.
"This coral is splendid. All those colors – just incredible!"
"Not as splendid as you, my darling..."
Once more, Giles and Ferdi McGellan exchanged an uncomfortable grimace.
The submarine had reached the Tritun Depths. The deeper it went, the darker the surroundings got. As did the king's face...
"Careful. We're almost there... Get ready..."
